Dr. Cyr is passionate about patient education and total body health. She is a great listener and enjoys collaborating with her patients to create a treatment plan that meets their needs and helps them toward their optimal level of health.
A graduate of the University of Minnesota School of dentistry, Dr. Cyr brings her background in physiology and passion for a healthy lifestyle to work with her everyday. When she is not working, she enjoys being outdoors, especially cross country skiing, running and mountain biking. Cooking with wholefood ingredients and home improvement projects are also her pastimes. Her favorite people are her husband, Brad, daughter Maven and their pug, Klaus.
As an undergraduate at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, she competed in Division I cross country skiing and track. The two most valuable things she took away from her undergraduate education were how to simultaneously consider many aspects of complex subjects and how to be a lifelong learner. She graduated cum laude in 2009 with a degree in physiology.
During her dental school days, she stayed extra busy by being involved in leadership roles in the Pediatric Dental Club and the Women’s Dental Association. She also was involved in public health research and was awarded the Student Clinician of the ADA Award and a trip to Washington, DC to present her research at the ADA Annual Conference in 2016. During her senior year, she traveled to Guatemala with a group of classmates to provide dentistry in a community clinic.
Since dental school, Dr. Cyr has dedicated herself to continuing her education, especially in the areas of dental sleep medicine, airway dentistry, and pediatric orthodontics. She loves to share her expertise with patients and educate them about how their airway health and sleep not only affect their dental health, but their overall health, as well. She has completed over 500 hours of continuing education.

Amanda attended school at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and graduated with a Bachelors of Science, Dental Hygiene degree in 2015. Upon graduation, her and her family moved to Duluth and she started working at Virginia Family Dental. While working at VFD she fell in love with the area and the people in the community and decided to move to Virginia in 2018.
After the COVID pandemic, she witnessed many providers leave their practices for different reasons, which left many patients in the community without a dental home. She decided to go back to school to help alleviate some of the pressure that the dental shortage has created on the Iron Range. In 2020 she attended Minnesota State University Mankato and earned her Masters in Advanced Dental Therapy.
She has a passion for learning and for advocating for her patients. She has been an active member in the Minnesota Dental Hygiene Association and on a state level, served as President in 2019-2020, was a Board Member from 2016-2020, and on a federal level she has also served as a State Delegate from 2016-2019. Amanda and her husband Tim have three children, Brayden, Logan, and Peyton. They enjoy exploring different camping spots and spending time outdoors in the summer. In the winter you can find them at the local ice arenas or traveling somewhere warm.
